Minimalist House in Minami Boso

Posted in Architecture by ferilli on March 3, 2010

This great minimalistic house is located in Minami Boso, Chiba. Although it takes only about less than 2 hrs drive from Downtown Tokyo, the site has a beautiful view of the pacific ocean and mountains. The villa was designed for the clients who live in Tokyo. Like many other modern Japanese house designs it has very clear lines and simple forms. Its main concept to maximize visibility of surrounding beauty of landscape an ocean. In order to achieve that,Kiyonobu Nakagame Architect and Associates, who designed the house, made big windows on all house sides.

Sander Mulder Clear Acrylic Lamps

Posted in Interior//Design by ferilli on February 17, 2010

A good light can make a room, and a great light can make a home.  The Sander Mulder Clear Acrylic Lamps are clearly the latter, no pun intended.  These clear acrylic lamps channel and shape light across the many fine details of their own symmetric contours.  Sander Mulder has created three different styles of their clear acrylic lamps, including the Marie-Louise table top lamp, the Josephine floor lamp and the Therese chandelier.  While the design and technology of these lamps are purely contemporary, their shapes are Victorian in spirit.  To that end, we salute Sander Mulder’s vision in creating a series of lighting that commands both interest and appreciation the moment they’re turned on.

Barbara Bona’s “Waterfall”

Posted in Interior//Design by ferilli on February 12, 2010

Switzerland-based designer Barbara Bona just sent us “Waterfall,” an LED-lighting concept that intends to “transform night into day” by bouncing the focused light of the LEDs off the reflective, translucent fabric of the curtain and into the surrounding space. The project transforms the unfriendly light of LEDs into atmosphere and suggests that a room be lit from its window instead of point sources on the ceiling, wall or floor.

ICONIC BRANDING OF A BUNNY KIND | PLAYBOY MAGAZINE

Posted in Lifestyle by ferilli on February 10, 2010

How unlikely would it seem today, if someone were to tell you that they were planning to build one of the world’s sexiest and most recognizable brands– with a logo based on a bunny? Well, that’s exactly what Hugh Heffner did. Seriously, doesn’t it sound kind of nuts? Looking back on the vintage images of the bunnies in their heyday, there is an undeniable naivete and corniness, mixed with an overtly demeaning attitude towards women– and wow, did it work.

Joe Colombo Elda Lounge Chair

Posted in Interior//Design by ferilli on February 9, 2010

In his brief but brilliant career, Joe Colombo (1930-1971) produced a series of innovations which made him one of Italy’s most influential Italian product designers. Elda was the first large chair to utilize a self-supporting fiberglass frame. Its seven sausage-like cushions, rotating base and generous proportions provide a great deal of comfort. This is one of Colombo’s first furniture designed and named after his wife Elda
The Elda lounge chair is exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the Louvre in Paris.

Inspired by the CBC’s iconic logo, Radio Canada also pays homage to the national broadcaster’s dedicated listening audience. With a tuner hidden on the bottom of the radio, users can preset their local CBC stations. Once programmed, the radio’s oversized toggle switch flips between Radio One and Radio Two – because what else do you need?
