Ross Street Residence in Melbourne

Posted in Architecture by ferilli on April 23, 2010

Situated in Melbourne, Australia, Robert Mills Architects and Hassell, Interior Designers completed Ross Street Residence.  The timber, zinc and concrete house with large openings is a surprise in itself!  The light, the transparency, the sharp angular exterior which is followed within, is softened by the organic forms in the residence’s interior.  The materials used as well as the design applied appeal a clearly modern architectural home.

First Neverend by Kitsune Noir and Dan Funderburgh

Posted in Interior//Design by ferilli on April 23, 2010

The first edition comes from a the talented Brooklynite, Dan Funderburgh. The traditional cuckoo clocks contained numerous references to animals and leaves. Dan referenced the craft’s history and added decorative fleurons and a naturalistic layer to the pieces but enjoyed adding a twist by placing some illustrative dynamite attached to the clock. The combination of blackletter, decorative fleurons and illustrations create a contemporary take on this old craft once glorified in Black forest, Germany.  The illustrations are laser etched in birch with laser cut acrylic hands.

Wave House by Tony Owen NDM

Posted in Architecture by ferilli on April 9, 2010

This house was designed to capture the spirit of Sydney’s Bondi Beach in a home which both beach house and urban style dwelling. The line of the wave is the underlying element which runs through the house. It forms an entry wing over the garage at the south and rises to give greater height to the living room at the north end. Kitchen, dining and living areas are combined and lead out to the garden. The centrepiece of the area is a built-in, cantilevered polished concrete workbench in the shape of a moulded seven. High windows run the length of one wall, while a low, glassed wall on the other side looks out on an elegant pool. Despite plenty of glass, the neighbouring houses are not visible. Because glass is everywhere in the house it isn’t surprise that the owner also owns glass supply business.

OO Wireless HD Projector

Posted in Style by ferilli on April 4, 2010

Is that an HD video projector… or some form of miniature UFO?  If we didn’t have the details, we wouldn’t know either.  The OO Wireless HD Projector by David Riesenberg brings a healthy dose of futurism to the projector market, both in design and functionality.  It is built to work wirelessly, using either a WiFi signal or an internally-sourced solid state drive.  The external form factor of this beauty is all UFO, a lovely little yellow-bodied design reminiscent of that old classic sci-fi film.

SKATE STUDY HOUSE

Posted in Interior//Design by ferilli on April 2, 2010

The SKATE STUDY HOUSE collection aligns its base with some of the bestselling pieces made from the best designers of the modern age and pays tribute to the renowned project, Case Study House. This project started as a post war movement developed by architects and designers with the goal to create a new lifestyle in a new realm of design. Fifty homes were built in the Los Angeles area and were furnished with new and innovative pieces of furniture from which many claim that “The Birth of Cool“ was created! The SKATE STUDY HOUSE finds its inspiration here by recreating this furniture, and giving it a feel of déjà vu-with-a-twist by incorporating skateboard decks. The introduction of this new element responds to the popularity of action sports, street art and design culture with a consciousness on our environment.

FINCUBE, Bozen, Italy, by Studio Aisslinger

Posted in Architecture by ferilli on April 2, 2010

“Natural high-tech” is the concept of this new modular, sustainable & transportable low-energy house. Designed by Werner Aisslinger and developed with a South Tyrolian team, the FINCUBE was created 1200m above sea level near Bozen in Northern Italy, with a brilliant view of the famous Dolomite mountains.

Made entirely of local wood, the building provides 47 m2 of living space with a minimal CO2 footprint. The design is minimal, material-orientated, and in close touch with nature–the wooden space with a 360-degree triple glazing is furnished with a second facade layer, producing shade and giving the building a unique overall mushroom-like monoshape.

TUDOR Heritage Chrono

Posted in Watches by ferilli on April 1, 2010

Created at the crossroads of vintage and velocity, the new TUDOR Heritage Chrono, launched at the Baselworld watch fair this month, is a timely addition to the TUDOR Sport collection. Ingeniously inspired by the celebrated TUDOR Oysterdate Chronograph of the early 1970s. Some forty years down the road, the watch is a fitting ode to the historic links and shared values of the TUDOR and Porsche brands. The 2010 TUDOR Heritage Chrono mirrors the original shape and proportions of the middle case, bezel, lugs and bracelet of the 1970s model, right down to the black, grey and orange fabric strap, with a newly-developed vintage–and seat belt-inspired buckle.

RED SEAL by Replay

Posted in Style by ferilli on March 26, 2010

The new superior denim line

RED SEAL is the new superior denim line for men which is destined to become a cult. It has been designed by Replay for those who really know and love quality denim. This major new project focuses on the interpretation and evolution of denim and its origins. It pays tribute to the far-sightedness of Replay founder Claudio Buziol, who, during journeys to the Far East in the 1980s, first recognised the uniqueness and great potential of Japanese cloths. They are still the quintessential denim and represent the height of quality.

The denim products in the RED SEAL line are made with extremely fine Japanese cloths only, woven on Japanese looms by some of the most respected and long-established companies in the sector. Every single denim item is strictly Made in Italy and finished by hand using traditional methods. The techniques include the most sophisticated and sought after in the sector, such as 3D mannequin drying, soda washing, pumice stone scratching, darns, dirtying obtained using brushed-on colour applications, patches, bleaching, resin finishes and sanding. These are all procedures which require an extended processing time as well as in-depth knowledge of the product and its endless potential. They are carried out garment by garment, making each one totally unique.

The first RED SEAL series recreates one of the classic Replay models in a super premium style: the five-pocket featuring a regular fit, straight leg and low rise. These pants are enhanced with fine details, which true connoisseurs will instantly recognise and appreciate, such as visible selvedge on one of the front belt loops and along the leg. Visible selvedge is also used on the right back pocket, also personalised by an horizontal red-line embroidery.

A red enamel rivet on the side pocket is the line’s distinctive seal. The first RED SEAL range is offered in twelve amazing washes, each and every one producing a vintage effect, from destroyed to medium and raw. All the options feature special treatments and share a bold personality, typical of original denim but reinterpreted with an eye on the future and a distinct tailored look.

The RED SEAL premium denim capsule collection will be on sale starting from Autumn 2010 in few exclusive and selected points of sale.
